Sweet Hill Farm's history dates back to the early settlers, with the White family being the first recorded owners in the 1600s. The farm has seen various owners over the centuries, each contributing to its development. Significant owners included the Day family in the 1800s and the Daniels in the 1940s, who renamed it "Holiday Farm." The Goudreault family purchased it in 1962, transforming it into a dairy and later a vegetable and greenhouse farm. The current owners, inspired by preserving the farm's heritage, aim to enhance its agricultural offerings and build a community-centric space.
Sweet Hill Farm's mission is to manage the farm as a cohesive, living ecosystem, integrating various elements to conserve resources and support the community. We focus on being economically viable and environmentally conscientious, working hard to uphold traditions while adapting to modern agricultural practices. This approach ensures we remain sustainable and continues to provide high-quality produce and goods to the local community.
At Sweet Hill Farm, we are deeply committed to preserving the rich heritage of this land and fostering sustainable agriculture. Our team, including Dan and Theresa Kane, John and Caitlin Reppenhagen, and Larry and Kim Kostiew, shares a passion for farming and community engagement. Together, we strive to keep Sweet Hill Farm a vibrant and integral part of our local landscape.
Our mission is to manage the farm as a cohesive, living ecosystem. We integrate various elements such as fields, forests, plants, animals, and people, all working together to conserve resources and support our community. We are committed to organic farming practices, avoiding chemical inputs and relying on biological and cultural methods to maintain soil health and plant nutrition. By focusing on biodiversity, sustainable farming techniques, and minimal tillage, we promote long-term ecological balance and productivity.
We believe in the importance of our work and the positive impact it has on our community. It is our privilege to continue the tradition of those who came before us, preserving this farm for future generations to enjoy.
